Modern Art Scoring: Artist Values, Round Sales & Final Cash
Modern Art does not award victory points. Money is the score, and every purchased painting is converted back into cash at the end of the round.
Rank artists by paintings played that round
When the fifth painting of one artist ends the round, count every painting played for each artist—including the card that ended the round. Rank the top three, using the printed board order to break popularity ties.
First / second / third add $30 / $20 / $10
Place the corresponding market-value tile for the round under each qualifying artist. Artists below third receive no new value tile that round.
Current artist value is cumulative
If an artist qualifies in the current round, each of their paintings is worth the sum of all market-value tiles accumulated in that artist’s column across this and earlier rounds.
Artists outside the current top three sell for zero
An artist that fails to rank this round is worth nothing during this sale even if that artist has older value tiles from previous rounds.
Sell and discard all purchased paintings
Receive the bank value for every painting you bought that round, then discard those paintings. Paintings do not remain as inventory between rounds.
After round 4, richest museum wins
Count all cash after the final sale. The player with the most money wins.
