Skip-Bo Stockpile, Building & Discard Pile Rules
Skip-Bo uses three different pile types, and each behaves differently.
Stockpile
Your Stockpile is the pile you must empty to win. Only its top face-up card is available for play.
Building piles
There can be up to four shared Building piles. Each begins at 1 and increases sequentially to 12.
What happens at 12?
When a Building pile reaches 12, remove the completed pile from the center so a new Building pile can begin in that position.
Discard piles
Each player may maintain up to four personal discard piles. Cards do not have to be placed in numeric order in those discard piles.
Which discard cards can be played?
Only the top card of each discard pile is available. Playing it can expose the next card underneath for later use during the same turn.
Stockpile setup size
Standard Mattel rules use 30 Stockpile cards for 2–4 players and 20 for 5 or more.
