The Quest for El Dorado Winning Rules: Finish, Barriers & Ties
The Quest for El Dorado is a race, but reaching the destination can require a final-round comparison if more than one explorer completes the route in the same round.
Reach El Dorado to trigger the finish
Move your explorer into the final destination according to the map’s movement requirements. The first arrival creates the potential game end rather than automatically ignoring the other players’ position in that round.
Complete the round as required by the edition
Use the current Ravensburger finish sequence so players receive the appropriate final opportunity based on turn order. This keeps the race fair when the starting player reaches El Dorado before later players have taken their turn.
Barrier tokens can break a tie
Map barriers removed during the race can become the tiebreak resource when multiple players reach El Dorado in the same final round. Keep claimed barrier tokens rather than treating them as discarded components.
If needed, compare barrier strength/count using the rulebook
The current edition specifies how tied finishers compare their collected barriers. Apply that printed sequence rather than using remaining cards or unused movement as an unofficial tiebreak.
