Sequence Strategy: Threats, Jacks, Blocking & Team Play
Sequence strategy is about creating lines that can be completed from multiple directions while forcing opponents to spend turns defending.
Create two-way threats
A line that can be completed at either end is harder to stop than a line with only one winning square.
Respect duplicated card spaces
Most card identities appear twice on the board. If one matching space is blocked, plan around the second before discarding the card as useless.
Save Jacks for leverage
Two-eyed Jacks are flexible finishers; one-eyed Jacks are strongest against chips that create multiple opponent threats.
Use corners
Free corners count for everyone and can reduce the number of chips needed to build a line near the edge.
Team play
You cannot disclose cards, so communicate legally through board choices: reinforce lines that give your partners several possible continuations.
