The White Castle Strategy: Nine-Turn Tempo, Dice & Combo Planning
Editorial analysis: With only nine turns, The White Castle punishes actions that do one small thing. Strong turns convert one die into two or three linked benefits.
Draft for action value and denial together
Taking an end die changes which value becomes available next on that bridge. When two dice help you similarly, choose the one that leaves opponents a weaker follow-up.
Build resource chains before expensive worker actions
A Courtier climb, Gardener placement or Warrior training is stronger when its triggered rewards replenish resources for another part of your plan rather than emptying the economy.
Courtiers multiply Warrior value
Warrior end-game scoring uses Courtiers inside the Castle as a multiplier. If you invest heavily in Training Yards, make sure at least some Courtiers advance beyond the Gate.
Gardeners need enough round-end activations
An early Gardener can trigger through multiple rounds; a late one may score only its final value. Early placements justify higher setup cost when their Garden action is repeatable.
Use lantern rewards to compress actions
Lantern chains and resource rewards can turn a single die placement into the economy for your next scoring move. Prefer bonuses that remove the need for a future “setup-only” turn.
Round 3: score, don’t prepare
There is no fourth round. Convert remaining food/iron/mother-of-pearl into Courtiers, Warriors, Gardeners or direct Clan Points rather than preserving a balanced resource stock.
