Kingdomino Scoring: Territories, Crowns & Tie Rules
Kingdomino scores each connected territory separately. Multiply the number of connected squares by the number of crowns inside that territory, then add the results from every territory in your kingdom.
Researched rules guide. Checked September 20, 2026 against Blue Orange Games’ current US Second Edition rules. Editorial standards.
The scoring formula
Territory score = connected squares × crowns in that territory.
A six-square forest with two crowns scores 12. A nine-square lake with zero crowns scores 0. A disconnected second forest is a separate territory and cannot pool its crowns with the first.
Worked kingdom example
Forest: 6 × 2 = 12. Water: 4 × 3 = 12. Wheat: 7 × 1 = 7. Grass: 5 × 0 = 0. The kingdom scores 31 points before optional bonuses.
Optional bonuses change the total
- Harmony: +5 for a complete grid with no gaps.
- Middle Kingdom: +10 when the castle is centered in the kingdom grid.
These are optional variants, not automatic base-game scoring.
Tie rule
Under the current Blue Orange US Second Edition rules, a tie goes to the player with the largest single territory. If still tied, the tied players share victory.
