Editorial analysis: Lisboa rewards turns that solve two problems at once: a city action that also improves income, decree scoring or future card efficiency.
Choose court versus portfolio for the next two turns
A card’s immediate action matters, but so does where the card ends up. Build the Portfolio only when its icon and economic effect support future turns.
Influence is a budget
Influence opens Noble actions and can be expensive to rebuild. Spend it on actions that materially advance the city or your decree plan rather than on marginal convenience.
Clear rubble with a development purpose
Rubble removal is strongest when it unlocks the district, player-board capacity or store placement you already intend to use.
Place stores around future public buildings
Store value depends heavily on city geometry. Anticipate where public buildings are likely to appear before committing to a street.
Decrees should overlap
Choose decrees that reward the same colors, districts, cards or city features. Overlapping conditions produce far more efficient final scoring.
Late game: convert portfolio and city position
Stop investing in long economic chains once the remaining turns cannot repay them. Use final actions to complete decrees, profitable stores and direct scoring.
