Cascadia Nature Token Rules: Keystone Tiles, Flexible Drafting & Rerolls
Nature Tokens are Cascadia’s main flexibility resource. You earn them from Keystone Tiles and can spend them before drafting to break the normal tile/token pairing or refresh wildlife.
How do you earn a Nature Token?
A Keystone Tile shows only one wildlife type. When you place the matching Wildlife Token onto that Keystone Tile, gain 1 Nature Token.
Spend a Nature Token to split a pair
Normally, you choose one of the four displayed Habitat Tile + Wildlife Token pairs. By spending 1 Nature Token before selecting, you may instead take any one of the four Habitat Tiles and any one of the four Wildlife Tokens.
Spend a Nature Token to replace wildlife
You may instead spend 1 Nature Token to wipe any number of the four displayed Wildlife Tokens and replace them from the bag.
How many Nature Tokens can you spend in one turn?
There is no limit. If you have multiple Nature Tokens, you may spend multiple tokens as needed.
Do unused Nature Tokens score?
Yes. Each Nature Token you still have at the end of the game is worth 1 point.
How is this different from overpopulation?
Overpopulation can replace repeated wildlife automatically or optionally under its own rules. Spending a Nature Token gives you a separate voluntary wildlife-refresh option before your selection.
