Blood Rage Gods of Asgard Expansion Guide
Gods of Asgard adds six Norse gods to Blood Rage, but only two gods are used in each game. Their figures occupy provinces and continuously modify the rules in those provinces, creating a moving tactical layer on top of normal drafting, invasion and pillaging.
Setup
At the end of normal setup, shuffle the six god cards and randomly select two. Place their cards where everyone can see their abilities.
To determine starting provinces, use leftover Ragnarök tokens that are not on the board or Age Track. Draw one for each selected god and place that god in the named province. The god occupies the province area, not a village slot.
How god powers work
Each selected god’s ability is continuously active in the province containing that figure. Other provinces are unaffected. Because the exact pair changes from game to game, the value of specific provinces, battle cards and upgrade plans can shift substantially.
When gods move
After a player attempts to pillage a province containing a god, that god moves to a different eligible unpillaged province. This happens whether the pillage succeeds or fails.
The two gods cannot share the same province, and they do not move into pillaged or destroyed provinces.
What happens in later Ages?
At the beginning of Ages 2 and 3, the gods are placed again using random eligible province locations. That prevents a single early board pattern from defining the entire game.
Why the expansion changes strategy
A god can make a province unusually valuable, dangerous or exploitable. Because pillaging moves the god, a player may attack partly to reposition an effect rather than simply to claim the pillage reward.
This creates another layer of timing around when to start battles and which province should receive a god next.
