Raiders of the North Sea creates a distinctive rhythm with its place-one, take-one worker system. Every action both uses a worker and changes which worker color you will have available next.

What is Raiders of the North Sea?

Raiders of the North Sea is Shem Phillips’ Viking worker-placement game for 2–4 players. Renegade lists a 60–80 minute duration and age 12+.

Players prepare crews and provisions in the village, then raid increasingly valuable settlements for plunder and victory points.

How the game works

Village turns use the signature place-one/take-one system: place your worker on one action space and resolve it, then remove a different worker and resolve that second action.

Raid actions require the correct worker color, enough provisions and an assembled crew. Raids award plunder, can trigger Valkyrie losses and contribute to scoring and Chieftain offerings.

The decisions that define it

Worker color and board position are resources. The worker you leave behind becomes available to opponents, while the worker you take determines what options you carry into the next turn.

Crew cards also serve several functions, forcing choices between hiring a character, using a one-time effect or pursuing specific raid strength.

Who is it for?

Choose Raiders if you want medium-weight worker placement with tactical worker circulation and a strong Viking theme.

Choose A Feast for Odin for a heavier sandbox or Viticulture for a gentler production economy.
