Frosthaven
Continue the Gloomhaven tactical campaign system with new classes, a developing outpost, seasonal events, resource loot and a much larger between-scenario layer.
Play cooperative tactical scenarios using the familiar two-card action system, asymmetric mercenary classes and automated monsters.
Between scenarios, develop Frosthaven’s outpost, craft items, manage resources and resolve seasonal events that can change the campaign beyond the battlefield.
Why We Love It
Frosthaven expands the Gloomhaven combat system with a much larger between-scenario layer. Tactical card play still matters, but outpost growth, seasons and resource management give the campaign another long-term planning dimension.

What is Frosthaven?
Frosthaven is Cephalofair Games’ stand-alone campaign game for 1–4 players, designed by Isaac Childres as a successor to Gloomhaven. The publisher lists sessions at roughly 2–3 hours and age 14+.
Scenario combat retains the card-driven tactical foundation while the campaign adds outpost development, seasonal events, resource gathering and a calendar that controls when some story material appears.
How the game works
Inside scenarios, players choose pairs of ability cards, manage initiative, movement, attacks and stamina while automated enemies follow their own behavior rules.
Outside scenarios, loot can become construction material, buildings expand the settlement, events change with the seasons and the calendar creates delayed consequences and story beats.
The decisions that define it
Frosthaven asks players to manage both scenario efficiency and campaign infrastructure. Resources spent on one building or craft option are resources unavailable for another future need.
Class-specific card play remains demanding, but the added settlement layer creates more reasons to think several sessions ahead.
Who is it for?
Choose Frosthaven if you already know you enjoy Gloomhaven-style tactical combat and want an even larger campaign-management layer.
Choose Jaws of the Lion if you are new to the system.
