How to Play Qwirkle: Tile Placement, Matching, Scoring & Winning
Qwirkle is a tile-placement game where every line shares exactly one attribute: all the same color with different shapes, or all the same shape with different colors.
Setup
Each player draws 6 tiles. The starting player is determined by the largest valid group of matching color or shape in hand under the standard rules.
Placing tiles
On your turn, place one or more tiles. If you place multiple tiles, they must all belong to the same line and share the required attribute.
No duplicate tiles in a line
A line cannot contain two identical color-shape tiles.
Maximum line length
A line can contain at most 6 tiles because there are six colors and six shapes.
Refill
After scoring your play, draw back up to 6 tiles while tiles remain in the bag.
Exchange
Instead of placing tiles, you may exchange eligible tiles with the bag when enough tiles remain, following the standard exchange procedure.
Winning
When the bag is empty, the first player to use all remaining tiles ends the game and gains the end-game bonus. Highest score wins.
