Preserve cure cards unless the board is about to collapse
City cards are both movement tools and cure sets. Direct flights feel efficient, but spending the wrong color can delay the objective that actually wins the game. Use ordinary movement and role abilities when the action cost is acceptable.
Treat three-cube cities as future outbreak chains
An epidemic can cause recently infected cities to reappear quickly. Remove pressure from clusters where one outbreak would trigger another instead of distributing treatment evenly across the map.
Build the plan around the current objectives
The campaign changes what counts as success. Do not automatically play each month as “discover four cures.” Read the current objectives first and allocate roles/actions toward the required combination.
Protect characters from unnecessary exposure
Persistent character consequences can matter across many games. When two routes are similarly efficient, prefer the one that avoids avoidable campaign risk rather than repeatedly sending one character into the most unstable areas.
Upgrades should improve repeated actions
End-of-game upgrades have the greatest campaign value when they reduce a cost the team pays repeatedly: movement, treatment, card sharing, cure preparation or another recurring bottleneck. One spectacular niche bonus may matter less over a twelve-month campaign.
Losing can increase future support, but do not aim to lose
The funding system helps rebalance difficult campaigns, yet a loss can also add persistent damage and consume one of the month’s attempts. Treat higher future funding as compensation, not as a strategic objective.
Before ending a won game, check campaign opportunities
If the objectives are secured and the rules allow additional safe actions before the finish, consider whether you can improve the board state or set up a beneficial campaign consequence. Do not risk turning a certain win into a loss for a marginal gain.
