Mancala Capture, Extra Turn & Game End Rules Explained
This page answers the most common rule questions for the classic mode in the Hasbro/Cranium rules sheet.
When do you get another turn?
If the last stone you sow lands in your own home cup, take another turn immediately.
When do you capture?
If your final stone lands in an empty pit on your own side, capture that stone plus all stones in the directly opposite opponent pit and place them in your home cup.
Do you put stones in the opponent’s home cup?
No. Skip the opponent’s home cup while sowing.
Can you choose an empty pit?
No useful move can begin from an empty pit because there are no stones to sow. Choose a pit on your side containing stones.
When does the game end?
Under the printed rules used here, play ends when one player empties all six pits on their side. Compare stones in the home cups; the player with more wins.
