Wingspan Asia Expansion Guide: Duet, Flock & 90 New Birds
Wingspan Asia is unusually flexible: it is a standalone game for 1–2 players, a 90-card bird expansion for Wingspan, and a way to play Wingspan with 6–7 players through Flock mode when combined with core-game components.
What comes in Wingspan Asia?
- 90 bird cards
- 14 bonus cards
- 2 double-sided player mats
- Duet map, goals and tokens
- Flock turn-order dial and goal board
- Food dice, birdfeeder, food tokens and action cubes
- Automa support
Duet mode
Duet is a dedicated two-player mode. Players place Duet tokens on a shared map as they play birds, creating spatial objectives and end-of-round scoring beyond normal two-player Wingspan.
The Duet system can be used with bird and bonus cards from across the Wingspan line.
Standalone 1–2 player game
Asia contains enough standard components to play alone or with two players without owning the original Wingspan box.
Flock mode for 6–7 players
Flock mode is designed for larger groups. It uses a special turn-order system so multiple players can act in a more manageable flow rather than simply extending normal turn order around a seven-person table.
For Flock mode, player components from the Wingspan core game are required.
Using Asia as a card expansion
The 90 bird cards and bonus cards can be mixed with the rest of Wingspan. Stonemaier explicitly supports combining bird and bonus cards across games and expansions.
Which side of the player mats do you use?
The included mats support both standard and Oceania-style play, helping Asia integrate with different Wingspan collections.
Who should add Asia?
Asia is especially strong for regular two-player groups because Duet is a dedicated mode rather than a minor variant. It is also the expansion to choose if your group needs official 6–7 player support.
