Wingspan Americas Expansion Guide: Hummingbirds, Cards & Compatibility
Wingspan Americas is the fourth major Wingspan expansion. It covers birds from Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean and adds a dedicated hummingbird subsystem on top of a large new bird-card set.

The hummingbird system
Hummingbirds use a separate mini-card deck and dedicated garden/track components rather than simply joining the normal bird deck. That makes Americas mechanically different from an expansion that only increases card variety.
The important teaching point is to explain the hummingbird area as its own subsystem after players already understand normal bird play. Keep the regular bird deck and hummingbird mini-deck physically separate during setup.

The standard-size Americas birds join Wingspan’s broader bird-card ecosystem. They increase the normal deck substantially while the hummingbirds sit alongside it as the expansion-specific mechanism.
Does Wingspan Americas work without the core game?
Americas requires either the Wingspan core game or Wingspan Asia. It is not a standalone product by itself.
How does it fit with Oceania?
Americas includes nectar-related components and player-mat overlays so it can integrate with the modern Wingspan rules environment. Follow the Americas setup instructions for the exact combination you own instead of assuming the base-game mat setup.
Who should add Americas?
Americas fits established Wingspan players who want both a major infusion of birds and a genuinely new subsystem. Groups seeking the smallest possible rules increase should start with European; groups wanting a reworked food economy should look at Oceania.
