How to Play Stone Age: Workers, Resources, Food & Buildings
Stone Age is a classic worker-placement game played in rounds with three phases: place figures, resolve their actions, then feed the tribe.
1. Place workers
Players alternate placing one or more available figures on one board location. Most action spaces have limited capacity; resource locations accept multiple workers within their printed limits and hunting has its own capacity rule.
2. Resolve workers and collect benefits
On your resolution phase, choose the order in which your occupied locations activate. Special spaces increase agriculture, tools or population; other spaces collect resources, buy civilization cards or construct buildings.
Resource gathering uses dice
Roll one die per worker assigned to a resource, total the result, apply tools if desired, then divide by that resource’s printed acquisition value to determine how many units you gain.
Agriculture reduces food pressure
Your agriculture level provides food every round before you must spend stored food. Growing the population increases future actions but also increases how much food the tribe consumes.
Buildings and civilization cards convert resources into points
Buildings score when constructed based on their printed cost/scoring rule. Civilization cards provide immediate benefits and end-game multipliers or set scoring.
3. Feed the tribe
After everyone resolves actions, feed each tribe member, offset by agriculture. If you cannot or choose not to meet the requirement under the rules, apply the food-shortage penalty.
