Troyes Character Cards & Final Scoring Explained

Troyes uses hidden Character cards to create shared end-game scoring conditions. Each player sees one Character, but every Character in the game scores for every player.

Character cards are global scoring rules

At game end, reveal all Character cards in use. Evaluate every player’s position against every revealed condition, regardless of who originally held the card.

Character categories

Characters can reward money, Influence, workers in locations, Activity cards, Cathedral progress, event involvement or other board-development patterns.

Score each Character separately

Apply the printed threshold or ranking values one Character at a time. A single resource or worker can contribute to several Character cards when each condition independently counts it.

Cathedral penalty

Players who fail the base game’s Cathedral participation requirement can suffer the final penalty specified in the rulebook. Check construction before final Character scoring is complete.

Points earned during play remain

Event fighting, Activities, Cathedral levels and other effects can award immediate VP. Final Character points are added to that existing total.

Winner

After all Characters and end-game adjustments are scored, highest VP wins; use the official tiebreak if necessary.
