Viticulture Essential Edition Scoring & Endgame Rules
Viticulture scores VP throughout the game rather than through one large final score sheet. Wine orders are the main source, but visitor cards and other effects can also move the VP marker.
Wine orders award VP immediately
When you fulfill an order, discard/spend the required wine as instructed, gain the printed VP and increase residual income by the order’s listed amount.
Visitors and board effects can also score
Some summer/winter visitors, structures or action-space bonuses grant VP directly. Add them to the same score track as order points.
Reaching the threshold triggers the final year
Once a player reaches the standard game-end VP threshold, complete the current year rather than ending instantly. Other players can still score before winter/year-end resolution finishes.
Residual income is not itself a final VP category
Residual payments help fund later turns but do not automatically convert to VP at the end unless a card or effect explicitly says so.
Highest VP wins after the final year
Compare final score-track positions after all players complete the last year. Apply the Essential Edition tiebreak sequence from the rulebook if totals are equal.
