Dominion Prosperity Expansion Guide: Platinum, Colony & Big Money
Dominion: Prosperity is the fourth Dominion expansion and is built around wealth, expensive cards and higher-value endgame targets.
What Prosperity adds
- 25 Kingdom card piles
- Platinum, a Treasure worth 5 coins
- Colony, a Victory card worth 10 points
- Victory tokens
- Expensive Actions and Treasures
Platinum and Colony
Platinum and Colony extend Dominion’s normal Gold/Province economy. They are optional Basic-card piles used together and make it possible for games to develop beyond the normal Province ceiling.
When Colony is used, an empty Colony pile also becomes a game-end condition.
Victory tokens
Prosperity includes VP tokens that score without clogging your deck with Victory cards. This creates ways to build points while keeping a functioning engine.
Why Prosperity feels different
The set encourages larger economies. Expensive cards, Treasure synergies and 10-point Colonies make “big money” engines more ambitious than in the base game.
Second Edition changes
The current edition replaced nine cards from the original release. Rio Grande also sells an update pack for owners of the First Edition.
Can Prosperity combine with other sets?
Yes. Prosperity’s rules include recommended combinations with other Dominion expansions. Platinum and Colony can also appear in mixed-set games.
Who should add Prosperity?
Choose Prosperity when you enjoy building large engines and want Dominion’s economy to scale higher. It is one of the clearest expansions for groups who already understand the base game’s money curve.
