Dominion Renaissance Expansion Guide: Coffers, Villagers, Projects & Artifacts
Dominion: Renaissance is the 12th Dominion expansion. It adds Coffers, Villagers, Projects and Artifacts while keeping the game relatively clean compared with several heavier modern sets.
What Renaissance adds
- 25 new Kingdom card piles
- Coffers for saving money between turns
- Villagers for saving Actions between turns
- Projects that give ongoing abilities
- Artifacts that players can compete to control
Coffers
Coffers let you store coin value for later instead of spending everything in the turn it is generated. This increases flexibility around expensive buys.
Villagers
Villagers perform a similar role for Actions. They let you save action capacity until a later turn when your hand actually needs it.
Projects
Projects are bought once and then provide an ongoing ability rather than entering your deck. They change the game state without increasing deck size.
Artifacts
Artifacts are shared benefits that can move between players when specific card conditions are met. This creates a form of interaction based on temporary ownership.
Why Renaissance is approachable
The new systems are meaningful but easy to track. Coffers and Villagers are stored resources; Projects sit in front of you; Artifacts are visible public objects. The set adds strategic depth without requiring a large number of separate decks or phases.
Who should add Renaissance?
Renaissance is a strong choice for players who want a modern Dominion expansion without jumping immediately into the most complex sets. It is often easier to absorb than expansions with many one-off card types.
