Everdell Pearlbrook Expansion Guide: River Board, Pearls & Wonders
Everdell: Pearlbrook adds an underwater district beside the valley. Players send Frog Ambassadors to the River board, collect pearls and compete to build expensive Wonders.
What Pearlbrook adds
- River board and overlays
- Frog Ambassadors
- 25 pearl resources
- 4 large Wonders
- Adornment cards
- River Destination cards
- New Critter and Construction cards
- New Events and Forest cards
The River board
The River gives players additional worker-placement destinations outside the main Everdell board. Frog Ambassadors are used to explore this new area.
Pearls
Pearls are the expansion’s premium resource. They are harder to obtain than normal twigs, resin, pebbles and berries and are primarily tied to Pearlbrook’s new scoring content.
Wonders
The large Wonders are expensive projects that convert pearls and other resources into major scoring opportunities. They create a late-game investment path that competes directly with building more cards into your city.
Adornment cards
Adornments provide another way to spend pearls and gain value. They broaden Pearlbrook’s resource economy beyond only racing for Wonders.
New aquatic cards
The expansion adds new Critters and Constructions with an aquatic theme, increasing the city-building card pool as well as the side-board systems.
Does Pearlbrook require Everdell?
Yes. It is a gameplay expansion and requires the base game.
Who should add Pearlbrook?
Choose Pearlbrook when you want a new scoring economy and a visible side board. It changes resource priorities more than Bellfaire but is less punitive than Spirecrest.
