Scythe Invaders from Afar Expansion Guide
Scythe: Invaders from Afar expands the faction roster with Clan Albion and the Togawa Shogunate and supplies the extra player mats/components needed to raise Scythe’s maximum player count to seven.
What Invaders from Afar adds
- 2 new factions: Albion and Togawa
- 10 miniatures
- 62 custom wooden tokens
- 2 faction mats
- 2 additional player mats
- Automa support and replacement tokens for higher-player-count rules
Clan Albion
Albion approaches the map differently from the original factions. Its starting position and faction abilities encourage territorial development and careful control of movement rather than simply copying a base-game faction pattern.
Togawa Shogunate
Togawa also has a distinct positional identity, using faction-specific pieces and abilities to create a different map-control puzzle from the five original factions.
Why the expansion matters at 6–7 players
The box includes two extra player mats specifically so Scythe can support up to seven players. It also includes rule-support material for higher-player-count interactions, including replacement tokens for abilities whose original wording does not scale cleanly at 6–7 players.
Does it change the base game rules?
Not fundamentally. Invaders from Afar mainly expands faction and player-count variety. The action-selection economy, popularity scoring, combat system and star race remain recognizable.
Compatibility
Invaders from Afar integrates with the rest of the Scythe line. It is particularly relevant to Rise of Fenris because owning Invaders raises that expansion’s supported player count from 1–5 to 1–7.
Who should add it?
Choose Invaders from Afar when you want more faction matchups or when your group needs six- or seven-player Scythe. If your goal is deeper system variety rather than more factions, Wind Gambit or Rise of Fenris changes more.
