What is Survive the Island?
Survive the Island is Zygomatic’s refreshed 2024 edition of the classic sinking-island survival design. Asmodee lists it for 2–5 players with an average play time of 45 minutes.
This edition adds a fifth player, refreshed packaging and a new monster alongside sharks and sea serpents.
How the game works
Players move explorers toward boats and safe islands while the central island gradually disappears tile by tile. Removed terrain can trigger immediate effects or release monsters into the water.
Explorers carry hidden treasure values, so the figure that looks least important to opponents may be your most valuable survivor.
The decisions that define it
The central tradeoff is speed versus greed. Waiting for a better boat position can save movement, but disappearing terrain and hostile creatures make every extra turn dangerous.
Because players can redirect monsters and interfere with boats, threat assessment includes both the board and the people around the table.

Choose Survive the Island if you want family-weight strategy with direct interaction, betrayal opportunities and a strong physical board story.
Choose Forbidden Island for cooperation or King of Tokyo for faster dice-driven attacks.
