Finspan Scoring Explained: Fish, Eggs, Young, Schools & Achievements

Finspan combines points earned from the fish in your ocean, population tokens and achievements across the four-week game. Use the official scorepad because several token types have different values and achievement points are accumulated separately.

Fish cards

Add the printed point values on fish in your ocean, plus any card-specific end-game scoring powers. A fish that produced resources throughout the game can still contribute printed VP at the end.

Eggs, young and schools score as different population stages

Count remaining eggs, young and schools using the values shown by the current Finspan scorepad/rules. Do not combine them into one generic “population” total: developing an egg changes what it is and how it scores.

Weekly achievements stay in your total

At the end of each week, players score the active achievement according to their relative performance. Record those points immediately; all achievement points earned across the four weeks remain part of the final score.

Resolve card-specific end-game text

Some fish may alter scoring based on nearby fish, population, depth or another condition. Apply those effects exactly as printed and avoid counting the same physical token twice unless the card explicitly scores it in addition to the normal scorepad category.

Highest total after week 4 wins

After the fourth week, total the scorepad categories and all relevant card effects. Highest VP wins; use the current rulebook’s tiebreak if necessary.
